Since October 2008, outbuildings in England have fallen under “permitted development” rights. This planning classification allows you to build without submitting a planning application, provided certain conditions are met. 

Importantly, your property must not be a listed building or on “designated land”. If your property is outside these areas, you are generally eligible for permitted development rights.

In practical terms, your cabin must be positioned at least 2m from any boundary, and must not occupy more than 50% of the total garden area. It must also not be built forward of the house’s principal elevation.

Yes, our Arctic Cabins are weatherproof. They are designed to withstand the British elements for decades when maintained as recommended.

Installation times vary depending on the size of the cabin and site access, but most Arctic Cabins can be delivered and fully installed in a couple of days once on site. Our experienced in-house team handles the whole process, so you can start using and enjoying your Arctic cabin immediately.

The size of your cabin will depend on how you intend to use it and how much available outdoor space you have. For example, a 7m² Arctic Cabin is great for a couple who wish to spend quality time together or who have limited available garden space, whereas those who wish to create a space to host and entertain all of their family and friends might opt for a large 17m² cabin.

You will need an electrical supply to your cabin, which we do not supply. This will need to be a 32amp supply.
