7m² Land Rover-Themed Man Cave

Darren had always wanted a man cave where he could relax, display his Land Rover memorabilia and enjoy more quality time with his family.

After a previous metal shed became a storage space rather than somewhere he could use, Darren discovered Arctic Cabins at the Three Counties Showground in Malvern. The distinctive design of the Scandinavian BBQ hut immediately caught his attention.

Now, his 7m² BBQ cabin, affectionately named The Rusty Bonnet, has become his everyday retreat, family dining area and the perfect home for his growing Land Rover collection.

How was the grill cabin buying process?

"Liam was sound, he went through everything. The cost, what came with the cabin, the different sizes. And then the fitters came. We had an email to say that they'd come at 7:00… they were there at 7:00 and they were brilliant. I came down and had a chat with them. You know making them tea and coffee they were brilliant. Absolutely brilliant." 

Why did you choose Arctic Cabins?

"So we went to the Malvern three county showground and that's where I first saw the cabin. The kids said 'you have to buy it grandad, it's a hobbit house and and it's what you always wanted'. In fact, the look of it is what I always wanted. The hobbit and the man cave all in one was perfect. Absolutely perfect."

"When you look at a normal wooden shed it's thin wood. This is cabin is solid wood. It's not going to rot, as long as you're looking after it. There's nothing like this anywhere. There's nothing like this at all with the fire and everything. It's great "

How often do you use your Scandinavian BBQ hut? 

"I use the cabin every day. I'll sit here with the dog, have a cup of tea and my sandwich in here. We've only had it a month and we've had three family gatherings in here where we've eaten. We'll be celebrating Halloween in here. On Christmas morning we normally have breakfast in the house, but I'm going to get up early. We're going to have breakfast in our matching pyjamas in the cabin! Yeah. It's memories of the year."

"The telly's on all the time in the house, but in here it's just you and the family and it's us sitting and having a chat and chilling out and having something to eat, laughing and joking. It's great for little things like that."

How have you personalised The Rusty Bonnet? 

"The decoration is Land Rover. It'll always be Land Rover inside. I stopped buying signs and memorabilia because I had nowhere to show it. It was all sitting in boxes. But now it's starting to come out and I've still got loads of room to fill. So when I go to any military shows that we do in the summer, I can buy a little sign from each show and then we'll know that we were there. But Land Rovers are my thing. It's my space, my safe haven, my little space, my Land Rover space."
