We recently visited Richard and Samantha in Solihull, to see how they are getting on with their 7m2 BBQ hut that they had installed in 2025, fondly named “Hagrid’s Gaff”.

What started out as a project to replace a seating area in the garden, turned into the creation of a quiet nook in the corner of their garden...

Why Did You Choose To Upgrade Your Garden With An Arctic Cabin?

“We wanted to replace the table and chairs that we’ve got in the garden. So, we went to Studley Garden Center. Whilst we were there, we saw the show area for these cabins. We had a look around them and walked into one and just thought, "This is really cool. I really want one of these!"”

“For us, I think the advantage was actually going to a showroom and seeing it, as opposed to buying something online just from a photo.”

“You know exactly what you're going to get. So you can see the build quality, you can see the type of materials that it's constructed from, down to the cushions.”

Why did you choose A Small BBQ Cabin?

“The smaller one we quite liked, because it feels a little bit more cosy. So we wanted it for friends and family, to either just cook some food or just chill out and have some drinks. Or just sit by the fire and read a book, rather than have it for parties and bigger get-togethers.”

How Have You Decorated Your BBQ Hut?

“In terms of decoration for the cabin, put some lights up in the ceiling and put some candles around the edge, but we think we're going to keep it quite plain because it's uncluttered. It gives you that focus, more on who's in here rather than what's going on in here.”

How do you use your BBQ Hut?

“During the winter if it's really cold and miserable, I put the fire on, bring my laptop and I can work from in here. You've got less distractions.”

“I can come here to unwind at the weekend. Glass of wine and my book.” “We said we'd spend a night in here, because it will be like camping but with a fire!”
