Glan Faenol is host to The Welsh Game Fair 2023. Few events can combine education, entertainment and awareness like that of a game fair. In England and Scotland, game fairs have been a shop window on the countryside for decades providing a commercial environment for trade stand holders. They promote a place to gather, network and debate whilst shining a spotlight on the issues and opportunities in our countryside. And what a great day out! Since their inception, the English and Scottish Game Fairs have welcomed more than 6 million visitors. It is now time for Wales to enjoy a national, sustainable event of its own. With mounting pressures on our way of life, the timing couldn’t be better.
We are delighted to outline plans for the first-ever GWCT Welsh Game Fair to be staged at The Faenol Estate in North Wales in September 2023. You can support it by becoming a founding partner and our vision for a 5-year plan.
The Faenol estate lies on the mainland side of the Menai Strait and comprises over 1000 acres of parkland. It includes a garden laid out in Elizabethan times, parkland designed in 1820, and woods dotted with a castellated tower, mausoleum, and boat house. The parkland is contained within a stone wall 7 miles long, and holds over 30 listed buildings including a chapel and medieval tithe barn.
