Arctic Cabins are very proud to have been chosen by Theo Paphitis as a Small Business Sunday winner this week. On the same day the company received confirmation from the BBC that the edition of ‘DIY SOS – The Big Build’ they donated a cabin to is to be aired on Friday 30 May.
Small Business Sunday (hashtag #SBS on Twitter) was created by Theo Paphitis in October 2010. Every Sunday between 5.00pm and 7.30pm Theo invites small businesses to tweet him. Then he reviews the tweets and chooses his favourites which he then retweets at 8.00pm on the Monday evening. At 8.01pm on the 19th May Arctic Cabins received their @TheoPaphitis retweet!
Arctic Cabins Marketing Manager Louise Jones said “Theo has over 400,000 followers so it’s a massive boost for the chosen lucky businesses. After the retweet, I was absolutely thrilled and delighted as our Twitter account took on a life of its own.”
Louise added “it had already been a great day as I had received an email from the BBC to say that the edition of DIY SOS – The Big Build that we had been involved with a couple of months earlier had been scheduled for the 30th May, earlier than we had anticipated.”
It was through Twitter that Arctic Cabins became aware of the DIY SOS appeal for a cabin to house a hot tub. The challenge was to renovate the home and garden of Maddie Malone and her family. Maddie is a very poorly little girl, she suffers from a neurological disorder that causes muscle contractions and an undiagnosed brain disease. She has also lost a lot of the use of her arms and legs and has problems with her speech and digestion. The challenge was to renovate both home and garden for Maddie and her family.
Arctic Cabins provided a cabin for the garden makeover. Maddie wanted a hot tub and somewhere to play. The Arctic Cabin housed the hot tub perfectly and looked great; it even came complete with pink LED lights.
Gareth Parkinson, Managing Director of Arctic Cabins said “It’s been an amazing week so far and it’s only Tuesday! The congratulations and support we have received from people far and wide has been brilliant. The potential benefits to our business from exposure like this is incredible, we are delighted.”
