Q. What is your role?

A. It has been my job to drag the IT wary of Arctic Cabins into the 21st Century. For a long time, the company worked purely on paper based systems and whiteboard calendars on the wall.  We are now working with most of the data in the Cloud which has helped us massively as the company has grown over the last few years. Now that is mostly in place though, I have recently been focused on the sales side of things.  I email and phone customers and where necessary, come out and do site surveys and then sell them a lovely BBQ Cabin.

Q. What was your first job?

A. I was a maths and ICT teacher in a secondary school in Kent.

Q. What time does your working day begin?

A. I start work at 8am in the office sometimes earlier if I am visiting a customer, doing site surveys takes me all over the country so the hours can be varied.

Q. What do you most like about your job?

A. You get a lot of satisfaction when you get feedback from your customers about how much they really like their BBQ Cabins.  We get that a lot!

Q. If not in your present job, what would you like to do?

A. In the summer, teach scuba diving or surfing in some hot country and then teach skiing in the winter months in somewhere like Italy.

Q. What’s on top of your to-do list?

A. My wife controls my to-do list, ask her!

Q. Who do you most admire?

A. I admire people who are inventive so people like James Dyson.

Q. What’s you biggest achievement to date?

A. Having two wonderful daughters and being happily married for 12 years.  We've been married for 17 years, but happily... (Thanks to my Dad for that joke!)

Q. What would be your ideal holiday?

A. Camping somewhere close to a beach where you could be sure it wouldn't rain!

Q. What are your hobbies?

A. Amateur dramatics. I have been a member of various groups, but Belper Musical Theatre is who I am performing with at the moment.

Q. What’s your favourite quote?

A. People who live in glass houses should undress in the dark! (Thanks again Dad!)

Q. What’s your favourite song?

A. Do you Hear the People Sing from Les Misérables.  It is a great song to sing.

Q. What was your best subject at school?

A. Maths

Q. What is your favourite time of day?

A. Mornings, before anyone else gets up.

Q. What’s your top barbecue cabin tip?

A. Varnish the floor inside, it helps keep it looking great!
