Derbyshire based Arctic Cabins are very proud to have been part of ‘DIY SOS – The Big Build’ this Spring. The company based in Ilkeston, manufacturers cabins and in January through the wonders of Twitter they were made aware that DIY SOS were looking for a timber building as part of The Big Build series for the renovation of a family home in Bury.
The challenge was to renovate the home and garden of Maddie Malone and her family. Maddie is a very poorly little girl, she suffers from a neurological disorder that causes muscle contractions and an undiagnosed brain disease. She has also lost a lot of the use of her arms and legs and has problems with her speech and digestion.
The Malone family moved to their current home in 2012 with their other two children, with the intention of building downstairs accommodation for Maddie, including a bedroom and a wet room. Due, to financial difficulties the Malones were left with an unfinished extension and the family of 5 were living out of 3 rooms.

A total of 89 tradesman joined the shows team to complete the build.
Arctic Cabins provided a cabin for the garden makeover. Maddie wanted a hot tub and somewhere to play. The Arctic Cabin housed the hot tub perfectly and looked great; it even came complete with pink LED lights.
